The protection of your personal data is a priority for True Turism, Lda.. In this Privacy Policy, we explain who we are, the purposes for which we use your personal data, how we process it, with whom we may share it, how long we retain it, and how you can contact us and exercise your rights.

Who are we?

Your personal data will be processed by True Turism, Lda., company registration number 514554134, hereinafter referred to as True Turism, Lda.

True Turism, Lda. is the data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Why do we process your personal data?

Your personal data may be collected and processed by True Turism, Lda. for the following purposes:

a) To comply with legal obligations to which True Turism, Lda. is subject, including communications with the competent authorities, namely AIMA – Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, as well as compliance with tax and invoicing obligations.

b) To perform the temporary accommodation agreement for tourists or the local accommodation management agreement entered into with True Turism, Lda., including:

  • Payment processing;

  • Check-in and check-out management;

  • Guest management;

  • Collection of security deposits, where applicable;

  • Provision of complementary services such as cleaning, transfers, breakfast, or other services related to the stay;

  • Management of contractual obligations and pre-contractual procedures.

c) To send communications by email or mobile phone, including commercial information, marketing campaigns, contractual communications, and responses to requests for information.

d) To protect the property and assets of True Turism, Lda., as well as to carry out statistical analyses aimed at improving the services provided.

Failure to provide the personal data required for the purposes described in points a) and b) may prevent True Turism, Lda. from complying with its legal obligations or performing the accommodation contract, which may result in the termination of the contract without any right to compensation, as well as the inability to provide certain services.

What personal data do we collect?

As part of its business activities, True Turism, Lda. collects only the personal data necessary to provide the contracted services or respond to requests for information, including, among others:

  • Identification data;

  • Contact details;

  • Billing information;

  • Bank account or payment card details, where necessary to process payments.

What is the legal basis for processing?

The processing of your personal data is based on:

  • The performance of the temporary accommodation agreement or the local accommodation management agreement;

  • Compliance with legal obligations, particularly those established by legislation governing the entry, stay, and departure of foreign nationals in Portugal, as well as tax legislation (Article 6(1)(b) and (c) of the GDPR).

Processing carried out for marketing purposes (point c) is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR).

Processing referred to in point d) is based on the legitimate interests pursued by True Turism, Lda. (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

How long do we keep your personal data?

Without prejudice to any legal provisions or judicial decisions to the contrary, your personal data will be retained only for the period strictly necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or subsequently processed.

Who may we share your personal data with?

True Turism, Lda. may share your personal data with:

a) Companies or entities belonging to the same corporate group, provided they ensure an equivalent level of personal data protection.

b) Public authorities to which True Turism, Lda. is legally required to provide information, including AIMA, the Portuguese Tax and Customs Authority, and other competent authorities.

c) Service providers acting on behalf of True Turism, Lda., including website hosting providers, technology platforms, email service providers, cleaning companies, accountants, lawyers, and insurance companies, solely for the purpose of providing their respective services.

d) Judicial, police, or administrative authorities whenever disclosure is required by law or necessary in connection with judicial proceedings, investigations, or security matters.

Are my personal data transferred outside the European Union?

As a general rule, your personal data will not be transferred to entities established outside the European Union.

Exceptionally, and where necessary for website hosting, data storage, backup and recovery services, or service development, your personal data may be transferred outside the European Union, always in accordance with the GDPR and ensuring an adequate level of data protection.

What are my rights?

Under the GDPR, you have the right at any time to:

  • Request access to your personal data;

  • Request the rectification of inaccurate personal data;

  • Request the erasure of your personal data;

  • Request the restriction of processing;

  • Object to the processing of your personal data;

  • Request the portability of your personal data.

If requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly due to their repetitive nature, True Turism, Lda. may charge a reasonable administrative fee or refuse to comply with the request, as permitted by law.

Where the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal or processing based on any other legal basis.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD – Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados).

Security and Confidentiality

True Turism, Lda. is committed to protecting your personal data by implementing appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Although every effort is made to ensure the security of your data, the transmission of information over the Internet is not completely secure, and therefore we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted electronically.

We are equally committed to maintaining the confidentiality of your personal data and will not sell, distribute, or otherwise make it commercially available to third parties, except as provided for in this Privacy Policy or where required by law.
